Damien Carter plays Father Love . A man of extraordinary talent. Damien, known by his friends and colleagues as "Big D", has a unique voice and style all his own. His ability to captivate and move his audience can only be compared to the great legends of time past, like Al Green, George Benson, and Sam Cooke. Damien's commitment to excellence, love of music and exceptional talent makes him a valuable asset to the music industry.
Growing up he would buy albums of his favorite artists, to name a few Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, and Michael Jackson. Damien would play them repeatedly and sing along with them. This helped to create the unique style he has today. The fact that he is such a gifted singer is no surprise. He has strong roots in the gospel field that stems from his mother who was one of the "Original Singing Angels" of Alexandra, Virginia. Seeing her on stage and how the group moved the audience struck an interest in him to sing and he has been singing ever since. Damien began singing in church at the age of twelve. His pastor would call on him to sing solos before the sermon. By the age of fifteen he joined a group called the "The Inspirations". They traveled around singing at various local churches. When the group disbanded he was seventeen. At that time he teamed up with a young lady in the church congregation. They were known as "The Blessed Ones". Many local churches invited them to sing. When that group disbanded, Damien was ready for a solo career. He recorded his first album entitled "Jesus Will Be Right There". He performed at weddings, put on concerts and traveled the East Coast singing. He recorded a demo CD that was entitled "True Love". This R&B recording shows his versatility and his love of all good music. Damien was the opening act for the legendary R&B group "The Intruders". He has also appeared on Jones Communication Cable on different occasions to bring his music to the East Coast. He was recently selected to appear on the new Michael Jackson video "Cry" as a Hero. This video was made to unite all Americans after the tragedies in New York City and Washington DC. Other interests are song writing and rearranging songs, playing piano, and drums. Damien's versatility ranges from R&B, Rock & Roll, Jazz, and Gospel. To get an idea of his skills please listen to his version of "You've Got A Friend" written by Carole King. |
